We’re well into January now, but here’s a little secret: Any day can be Day 1. There is still time.
It doesn’t have to be January 1st or January 28th. It can be any day. Goals don’t come with expiration dates; no rule says you have to start at the beginning of the year to make progress.
As creative entrepreneurs, marketers, and more, we’re juggling a lot: passion projects, work projects, friends and family, events, and our own big dreams. But what keeps me grounded—and moving forward—is a method I’ve found works for me when it comes to achieving my goals. Maybe it can help you too.

Start with the Big Picture and Work Backward
Here’s how I break it down for my business:
1️⃣ Set 4-5 big business goals for the year. These are cornerstone goals that will move my business forward in meaningful ways. For me, that includes things like growing my email list, launching a digital product, and building a stronger connection with my audience.
2️⃣ Break those goals into actions per quarter. What do I need to accomplish in Q1 to stay on track? (Example: Plan and create content for a new course.)
3️⃣ Define monthly actions. Each month, I map out bite-sized steps to tackle those quarterly goals. (Example: Record two modules of the course in February.)
4️⃣ Plan weekly tasks. These are my weekly to-dos that inch me closer to the goal. (Example: Script and outline one lesson for the course this week.)
5️⃣ Focus on daily actions. Every day I do one small thing that contributes to the bigger picture. (Example: Post a Reel that aligns with my course topic.)
This method gives me clarity and direction. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by the big picture, I’m able to focus on the smaller steps that actually make those big dreams happen.
Start Today—No Perfect Timing Needed
If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to start—whether it’s a new business, a creative project, or even just getting more organized—let this be your sign: Today works just fine.
