I’ve been mulling this over today…
I can’t lie—I’ve been feeling a bit discouraged with social media. After posting every day on my business account for a month and a half, I haven’t necessarily gotten the results I thought I would.
But then, I came across a piece of advice that I really needed to hear:
You can’t quit on a bad day. If you want out of the game, you have to choose to get out on a good day.
That hit me hard. Because let’s be honest—most of us don’t quit on a good day. It’s usually the tough days, the frustrating days, the “I have no energy for this” days that make us want to throw in the towel. I’ve had those moments where I think, forget it, I’m not posting today. But more often than not, those same moments are followed by days when I feel so proud of myself for pushing through.
Like, I can fully admit—I’ve posted at 11:30 PM multiple times just because I refused to miss a day. My stubbornness came through, and even though it wasn’t ideal, I still showed up. And there’s something powerful about that.
The Power of Pushing Through
Pushing through those uncomfortable or frustrated feelings, setting aside the need for instant gratification, and simply sticking with it is a massive win. Because in those moments, we prove to ourselves that we can handle the discomfort, and that, in itself, builds confidence.
Can you think of a time when you pushed through and felt that deep sense of pride afterward? How about a time when you quit something on a bad day—where did that leave you?
Reframing Social Media Struggles
I know I’m not alone in feeling this way about social media. It’s easy to blame external factors for why things aren’t working, and while they do play a role, they aren’t the only factor. So instead of focusing on what’s not working, I’ve been asking myself these questions:
- Am I proud of the content I’m putting out?
- Does my content represent my brand well?
- Am I learning from what I’m posting?
- Am I experimenting with new ways to share my message?
- If one of these posts went viral, would I be attracting my ideal clients?
- Would I be happy gaining a flood of followers based on this post?
- Is my content actually helping my ideal audience in some way?
A Reminder to Keep Going
So, I want to challenge you to pause and think: How is the content you’re putting out contributing to your brand? How can you serve your audience even better?
I wanted to bring you into my thought process today because I know we all need that reminder to keep going—to keep serving, keep showing up, and keep creating—even when we really feel like giving up.
If you’re in the same boat, just know you’re not alone. And if you need a push to keep moving forward, consider this it. 💛
